Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is a traditional form of alternative medicine that involves placing cups, typically made of glass, plastic, or silicone, on the skin to create a vacuum seal. This is achieved by heating the inside of the cup or using a mechanical pump to remove air, which causes the cup to adhere to the skin. The vacuum created by cupping helps to increase blood flow to the area, promote healing, and release tension in the muscles.
During a cupping session, the cups are often left in place for a few minutes or moved around the skin's surface to create a massage-like effect. As the cups create suction, they can cause temporary discoloration and circular marks on the skin, known as "cupping marks." These marks are typically not painful and may vary in color from pink to dark red, depending on the individual and the level of suction applied. Cupping therapy offers various health benefits, including pain relief, improved circulation, and relaxation.
At Adept Chiropractic, our qualified healthcare professional would provide cupping therapy as a treatment option when deemed beneficial.
